How to select the perfect light for your corals

There are three main types of lamps: halogen, T5 and LED.

1, Halogen lamp

The halogen lamp has the most comprehensive spectrum, close to sunlight. It can provide a more effective spectrum for photosynthesis, so the growth effect is the best, and because of its strong light and rich UV, it can stimulate the color of SPS coral, but for LPS coral, the light is too strong, which will cause the LPS corals to whiten and die. The traditional tortoiseshell makes the lamp huge and unsightly appearance. Becuase of the high heat generation and large power consumption, the bulb needs to be replaced in more than half a year. Now only SPS enthusiasts will choose this kind of lamp.

2,T5 lamp

The growth effect of T5 lamp is second only to halogen, and the colors can be matched in various ways, which can be combined to create a comprehensive spectrum. The light-emitting surface of the lamp panel is very large, and there will be no dark areas in the tank. The lamp tube needs to be replaced every 10 months. The heat generation is medium, it's suitable for raising a variety of corals.

3, LED lamp

With the development of technology in recent years, in the field of aquariums, LED lamps have also become the mainstream of the market. They have the advantages of small size, high brightness, slow light decay, low power consumption, low heat generation, beautiful appearance, and color can be adjusted at will. They can simulate sunrise and sunset, and have other advantages, such as they could be controller via bluetooth, wifi app.
