‌The main principle of aquarium heater is to automatically adjust the temperature through electronic control technology or the characteristic of a material's resistance increasing sharply when a certain temperature is reached. Specifically, aquarium heaters can be divided into the following categories:

‌PTC heating rod‌: This type of heating rod uses the characteristic of a material's resistance increasing sharply when a certain temperature is reached to automatically adjust the temperature. When the heating rod reaches the set temperature, the resistance increases and the current decreases, thereby stopping heating or reducing the heating power to keep the water temperature constant while saving energy.

‌Fish tank variable frequency heating rod‌: Through electronic control technology, the heating power is automatically adjusted according to the change of the fish tank water temperature. When the water temperature is lower than the set temperature, the heating rod works at a higher power to quickly increase the water temperature; when the water temperature is close to the set temperature, the power is reduced to maintain the water temperature stable. This design not only accurately controls the temperature, but also adjusts the power according to actual needs, which is more energy-efficient than traditional heating rods.

‌Electronic and bimetallic mechanical heating rods‌: Electronic heating rods accurately control the temperature through thermistors, while bimetallic mechanical heating rods use the principle of thermal expansion and contraction of metal strips to adjust the temperature. Electronic heaters are usually more precise, while bimetallic mechanical heaters are simpler and less expensive.
